I am very lucky to have discovered at an early age a career that excites and challenges me. From on set supervision through final assembly I enjoy what I do and working with creative people.

Freelance Visual Effects Artist & Supervisor February 2008 - February 2011
Worked frequently at Digital Domain in commercials including spots for Toyota, Capital One, and multiple spots for Inifinit. Completed 52 shots for a British Sc-Fi TV show "Red Dwarf" as part of fxphd.com project, this also formed the basis for a flame class I taught for fxphd.com. Helped The Orphanage with the first Inferno ever installed in the facility for the movie Red Cliff 2 and ended up with four flame artists on the project. Lead Flame artist and on set Visual Effects Supervisor on the 2008 ABC fall promo package at Troika Design Group, directed by Randy Roberts (youtube link). Multiple projects including an O2 commercial and the Weezer video "Pork & Beans" at Motion Theory.


Hydraulx (Santa Monica) March 2005 - February 2008
Compositor
Compositor on Commercials: Gatorade, Fresca, Jeep, Coca Cola, Mercury, Toyota. Feature films: Fantastic 4, The Fog, Aeon, Flux, Little Man, Xmen 3, 300, AVP:R, Meet Dave. Hydraulx is a very flame-centric facility, when I left they had around 20 flames and 36 burn nodes.

Compositor
Two months working on a Volvo commercial and a DirecTV campaign that was featured on a "State of the Art" segment of Dateline NBC.


SOL designfx (Venice, CA) (RIP) May 1999 - January 2005
Senior Compositor / Visual Effects Supervisor / Managing Director
Visual effects, finishing, and on-set supervision in a creative design environment using Inferno and Flame. Helped design and build a spectacular facility in Venice, CA (which was closed). Primary focus on commercials. Clients included Leo Burnett, Disneyland Advertising, DDB, BBDO, Y&R, J. Walter Thompson.

Visual effects for feature films, commercials and television shows as a member of the Digital Film Group. Work included commercials for: Jeep, Dodge, Serta, Campbell's Soup, Northwest Airlines, Mervyn's California. TV shows included: That 70's Show, Law and Order. Feature film effects included Wing Commander.

October 1995 - May 1998
Director of Digital Production
Created visual effects for feature films, commercials and location based entertainment. Feature film work includes scenes in: Titanic, Contact, Deep Impact, Mafia!, The Parent Trap, Dante's Peak, George of the Jungle, Batman & Robin, The Birdcage, Executive Decision, Eraser, Kazaam, Turbulence. Theme Park work included: T2 3D attraction for Universal Studios and a film for Walt Disney World's 25th Anniversary that ran in the Walt Disney Story Theatre. Commercial work included Dodge, Nike, Microsoft. Primary tools were Discreet Logic Inferno, Ultimatte and Avid Media Illusion.


Editel Chicago (RIP)
June 1990 - October 1995
Director of Digital Production
I was hired to help design and operate the first component digital (D1) edit suite in Chicago (and one of the first ten worldwide). This suite featured a Grass Valley Group Kadenza switcher, Abekas A64 DDR, Accom Axial 2020 with RAVE, RTD disks. Was involved with Alpha/Beta testing on the Axial editor. When I left I was operating Flame in a digital production environment consisting of: Silicon Graphics computers running Discreet Logic Flame, Ultimatte, Cinefusion, Matador, Elastic Reality. The business consisted primarily of national commercials. Work included commercials for McDonald's, Kellogg's, Kraft and General Mills.

Edited animatics, commercials, and graphic projects. Clients included: NBC, Turner Broadcasting, Harpo Productions, Kingworld, DDB Needham, Lintas, J. Walter Thompson, Y & R, McCann Erickson, Grey Advertising, DMB & B, FCB/Leber Katz, and Ogilvy & Mather.


Instant Replay (Cincinnati) (RIP)
January 1985 - July 1989
Director Of Post Production
I was responsible for management and operation of the Post Production Department, as well as editing for commercial & industrial clients. Primary emphasis on graphics, animation and special effects. Also very involved in equipment purchase decisions, as well as facility and systems design. We were among the first ten facilities in the US to install Quantel Paintbox, Abekas A62, and Quantel Mirage.


WLWT (Cincinnati) NBC
March 1982 - January 1985
Executive Producer
Began as weekend news director, moved into producing & directing special projects. Supervised the production and set-up departments. Involved in capital budget planning to determine equipment purchases. Helped setup the city's first electronic news graphics department. Was awarded two regional emmy awards for electronic graphics.


WCET (Cincinnati) PBS
November 1972 - March 1982
Senior Producer/Director
Started as a member of the floor crew, serving in every crew position for both studio and remote productions. In 1977 I was promoted to Producer/Director, responsible for generating program ideas, supervising crews, formulating and managing budgets. Created and directed programming in all areas, specializing in entertainment and instructional programs. Produced and Directed a series called Rock Around the Block featuring local bands.
